Tool Movement

The quickest way to move the chisel around is to left click in the middle of the screen, hold the mouse button down and move the mouse around.
Hack around a few times to get the hang of it. Just hit the new button when you've reduced it to a tooth pick!

At the bottom of the screen are 3 very useful feedbacks.

  • The tool position. This is the distance from the left of the work piece to the chisel center.
  • The Tool Depth. This is the distance from the center of the work piece to the tool tip.
  • Wood radius. This is the radius of the wood at the center of the tool.
  • As you cut you will also see the profile change in the profile view.
  • Tip: Each time you press the mouse button down and release it counts as one cut. You can undo up to 5 cuts so take small cuts. Use ctr+Z or the Edit-Undo menu option to undo.

You can use the tool left/right and depth sliders to control the tool movement with greater control. This is very useful for creating accurate turnings.

*Try different tools to see what effect they have.

You can also use the arrow keys on the keyboard. Be sure to click once in the main view with the mouse to return focus to the main window.

The arrow keys allow you to move in tiny increments and produce very detailed turnings.
